Mesmerized by the hypnotic drum loops and heavy bass lines of hip hop, at a young age Collie Reeka set off on his musical journey to replicate those sounds. Spending much of his youth hanging out at music shops in Milwaukee, WI he would watch local musicians try out the bass guitars and try to pick up lessons from them by observation and interaction.
Putting hip hop aside, Collie formed a group of his own Called "Viewers Like You" when he was 12 in which he would perform in a local battle of bands and talent shows for the next three years. Also within that time frame he learned the art of sampling which he did with 2 vinyl decks and a tape recorder often throwing sounds from and 80's Korg keyboard on top of the mix.
Being a young and rebellious youth, he often found himself getting in trouble with local authorities which resulted in him being moved out to Washington D.C. and leaving his group behind. Without any contacts, and a group to play music with, he started doing his music solo. It was at this point that Collie decided to start writing lyrics and rapping (since he had no vocal range for singing) and telling his story on top of the beats he was already making. Shortly thereafter, he was introduced to the computer software Fruity Loops where he fully immersed himself and learned to incorporate all of the skills he had learned up to that point.
